Read and learn these tips – you wont regret it!

1. Never try anything on Coastrek that you haven't tried before

 2. Train yourself to eat a little every 45 mins

 3. You are only as fast as your slowest team member at any stage (never split the team, stick together at all times)

 4. Drink electrolytes for salt and mineral replacement, not Gatorade

 5. Options for blister management: paw paw ointment, footfleece, foot powder, sock liners… so many choices  - you have to find what works for you during training!

 6. Refill your hydration pack with ice cold water where possible, you will want to drink it on a hot day.

 7. For 50kms have 2 choices of shoes worn in, for 100kms at least 3 choices.

 8. Change the leader often: make sure you all have a turn leading and a turn at the tail end.

 9. Socks.....if you find ones you like, buy a couple of pairs – they wear out in training and need to be replaced.

 10. if you usually have a daily caffeine hit to get through your day, continue with this practice on Coastrek.

Good Luck with the training – it’s a perfect day to start today!

121 DAYS TO GO!
Coastrek starts FRIDAY 2nd March

Handy Hints for Night Training

Please remember – for night training – the metal stairs at the back of the Balmoral oval, and the gates down at Chowder Bay will be locked after dark up until event day. Find an alternate route in these areas - we do not encourage climbing over our National Park & Wildlife fences!

At South Head when you are coming BACK from doing that amazing loop at the headland – you will be steered toward the bush track opposite Cliff Street. The bush track is actually BEHIND a ‘DO NOT ENTER’ sign.
It is a little overgrown – and you may not think there is a track there at all. Don’t be tricked – it is very Wild Women – and will be well marked on event day. It’s just part of the adventure in store!

For more tips on How to Prepare for Endurance Treks, get your copy of “How to Prepare for World Class Treks”

Get online and make your donations go further!

1. If you haven’t already, log in and complete your Trekker Profile at www.coastrek.com.au. Your fundraising account will not be activated by The Fred Hollows Foundation until you have done this.

2. Once your fundraising account is active, customise your personal fundraising page (and Team Captains – customise your team page too!). Add your own photos and videos, give your page a title, and leave a personal message.

3. Set or edit your fundraising goal to activate your fundraising thermometer.

4. And if you skipped this step earlier, get sponsors! Send an email to your friends, family and colleagues with a link to your personal page asking them to support you (and The Fred Hollows Foundation).

5. Connect via facebook, twitter and other social networking sights to spread the word!

Online fundraising is a simple, easy and fun – and it makes your donations go further. Did you know that fundraising online saves The Fred Hollows Foundation about 20c in every dollar raised – meaning more people will benefit from The Foundation’s sight restoring work if you fundraise online!

If you have any questions about fundraising, we are here to help. Please contact The Fred Hollows Foundation Coastrek Fundraising Team on coastrekfundraising@hollows.org or 1800 352 352.
