Homecoming Scrimmage

In keeping the tradition of honoring our football team during our homecoming game, and in light of our opponent forfeiting their season, Lane will be holding a 7 on 7 scrimmage (this will not be a tackle football contest, but rather a “touch football game” with seven players playing at a time instead of 11). Gates open at 6:30pm and begin the scrimmage by 7:15pm.  Tickets will be sold beginning Wednesday and then again on Thursday before school, during lunch periods, and after school and will be for sale for $3.00 (we still need to cover the costs accrued from having an event at our school).  This event is for Lane Tech students, parents/families, and alumni only.  All Lane Tech students must have their ID on to enter the stadium and we are strongly encouraging no backpacks as all backpacks must be checked (thus delaying admittance into the game, and with a shorter evening planned, we want all students to enter the stadium for the start of the game). The scrimmage will be two 15 minute halves (running clock) with a halftime show by our Lane Tech Marching Warriors, Cheer Team and Dance team who will perform to honor our tradition and celebrate all of our homecoming stakeholders.

Follow Friends of Lane, Lane Tech, Lane Tech High School LSC, and Class of 20XX pages on Facebook.

NEWS Back to Top

Congrats to Lane Scholars

The Lane Scholars program encourages and rewards students who excel academically at Lane Tech.  Students are eligible if they rank in the top 50 of their class.  Selection is based upon cumulative grade point average calculated at the end of each semester.  At the end of the first semester of each year, qualified Lane Scholars will be notified by email and must complete the linked google form to check for requirements.  At the end of each year, qualified Lane Scholars are notified of their Lane Scholar status. Click HERE for the list of Lane Scholars.

Lane Scholars are expected to enroll in challenging classes, participate in extracurricular activities and become school leaders.  Lane Scholars are required to enroll in AP Capstone and four additional AP courses.  Scholars must take all mandatory college entrance assessments provided at Lane Tech.  In addition, scholars must be an active member in at least one club, sport, or extracurricular activity; have up-to-date service learning hours/projects; maintain 95% attendance throughout the school year;  and be a member of the National Honor Society by the end of their junior year.  In order for a student to remain a member of the Lane Scholars program, he or she must continue to meet the criteria listed above and maintain the ranking in the top 50 of his or her class.

Study Abroad for the Summer

Great News! Lane Tech has been allocated $50,000 in scholarship funds (based on merit & need) for students to study abroad next summer through CIEE, the Council on International Educational Exchange. CIEE hosts a variety of programs all over the world with different emphases, such as language/culture, art, science, community service, and leadership.

The PRIORITY application deadline for the summer study abroad programs is December 1st.

There are essays that students will need to write as part of the application process. It is HIGHLY recommended that students begin their essays now and proofread (and have a friend/parent/teacher proofread) before submitting the application online. The essays are between 400-600 words each.

Questions? Please don't hesitate to contact Tim Rogers TRogers@ciee.org at CIEE. Mr. Silverstein is sponsoring a student club at Lane that will assist students through the application process.
