Can New Members Find You?

With the upcoming Winter Olympics, speed skating will be in the spotlight once again. Remove any barriers for potential new members by ensuring your club contact information is correct.

Three places to check: 

Attention all FUNdamentals Trained Coaches!

OSSA is piloting a unique opportunity to assist Fundamental Trained coaches complete the certification process. Tutorial sessions will be offered on 3 dates (September and October 2013). The sessions will be hosted by an OSSA Learning Facilitator who will work with coaches to understand the remaining steps in the certification process, assist with completion of the portfolio work, and provide guidance for the on-ice evaluation. Coaches who have attended both FUNdamentals A and B are encouraged to attend a tutorial session and complete their certification.

The Coach Apprentice

There is an Apprentice Coaching Opportunity designed by Quest for Gold in partnership with the Coaches Association of Ontario.  The intent of the program is to build capacity and develop the leadership skills of Ontario coaches who will ultimately participate as part of Team Ontario. Program details can be found on the Coaching Section of the OSSA website. Deadline for application is September 20th.


2014 Olympic Short Track Team Unveiled


After an intense two weeks in Montreal during the Intact Insurance 2014 Short Track Team Selections, Speed Skating Canada has officially nominated their athletes to the Olympic Team for Sochi.

Markham Speed Skating Club mourns loss of longtime President

Roger Buxton 2In addition to being the longtime President for the Markham Club, Roger Buxton was a former member of the Ontario Speed Skating Association and a hardworking, dedicated volunteer to the sport of speed skating.  His passing has saddened the entire community and he will be greatly missed as the skaters return to the ice this month.  To learn more about Roger and his involvement, please click here
