OSSA would like to wish Jackie Deschenes and her husband Michael Wood many congratulations on their new arrival. Jackson was born June 8th, 2013 weighing 9lbs, 2oz and 22 inches long. Everyone is doing great!

Double recognition for speed Skating coach Mike Rivet

It's back to back award honours for Ottawa's Mike Rivet as he picks up Coach of the Year from OSSA and most recently, the Coaching Excellence Award from Speed Skating Canada.  This Award was presented during the Awards Reception during SSC's Annual General Meeting June 20-23 at the University of Ottawa. 





Kelly Ball, a dedicated and 

appreciated coach


Kelly has been the head coach for the Kingston Striders Speed Skating Club for the past two seasons and prior to this, with the Ottawa Pacers. During the 2012-13 season, she was also a coach at the Long Track Speed Skating Camp in Ottawa and at the Canadian East Championships in Halifax. Kelly was recently honoured by Speed Skating Canada with a Coaching Excellence Award during the Annual General Meeting at the University of Ottawa, June 20-23.

As Head Coach of the Kingston Striders, she has provided invaluable service to this Club and its members. Each week, she is on the ice Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings for the Development Hour and for the Advanced Hour. On Saturday mornings, she coaches another Advanced Hour for racers. She also coaches at the Provincial Racing Series and organizes the other coaches to look after each Regional series event. Congratulations Kelly on such a well deserved award!

This is a good opportunity for clubs to upgrade equipment for their rental programs. Sale is open to everyone.

Please see list of equipment, sizing and pricing to become familiar with items prior to arrival. Expert advice and guidance will not be available on site. No advance orders. All sales are final.
Unfortunately we are not in a position to mail items to clubs. 
Unable to attend? Please discuss options with neighboring clubs.

King Speed Skater sets two Ontario Records


Andria Scarpelli closed out her stellar season by setting two new Ontario Records in the 200m (27.20) and 400m (53.54).  As a Learning to Train (LTT) athlete, these times have her on track to seeing much more success in the sport she loves.
