Pet of the Month
 Kiki
Kiki was born approximately May 2015 and weighs approx 15 lbs. She is very sweet, good with other dogs, loves people, very playful, and runs all over the place. She loves to snuggle up on the sofa and completely covers herself in the blanket in her bed. She loves to go for long walks, is really good in the car, and likes to be with you all the time. She was an owner surrender as their landlord would not allow them to keep her. At the shelter, she was in the back of the cage and shaking. Once out of the shelter, she was completely a different happy dog.

Success Story
Pixie and Trixie
By Gloria (Foster)
Animal Rescue Volunteers rescued five-year-old sisters Pixie and Trixie who were surrendered to a local shelter. It was evident that they had been severely neglected by their previous owners.  They were very thin, had demodectic mange, and it appeared that they had been used for breeding. The mange had not been treated and it left both of them completely hairless as you can see in the photo below.

ARV took them in and continued treating them with medication and medicated baths. After months of treatment, their hair grew back.  Pixie still has some spots of missing hair though, and may always be that way.  However, their transformation was amazing.  They are now as beautiful as they are sweet and loving.  Even with all that they have been through, they are so very excited to see you and as gentle as can be.  A wonderful mother and daughter came in to look at Trixie, but when they saw sweet Pixie, they realized that they could not separate these two adorable girls and adopted them both.

Pixie and Trixie now have an amazing home.  They are living in the lap of luxury with Staci and her daughter Emily.  They have all the warm beds, toys, treats, and regular spa treatments they could ever hope for.

Thank you Staci and Emily for giving these two sisters their forever home together!

Princess born approx July 2016 and has an amazing story of tragedy and survival.

She loves life and has been through a lot for being so young.  She and her brother arrived at the shelter with rat poisoning.  They both survived, then both got parvo. She survived but unfortunately her brother did not. She was then adopted but was in a bad car accident with her prior owners.  As a result, she had 3 severe fractures in her hind leg. Her owners dumped her on the street and a good Samaritan found her limping and brought her back to the shelter.  All of this happened before she was 6 months old!  We rescued her from the shelter and had the needed surgery. Since the injury was old and had already healed, we were able to repair most of the fracture. All has healed completely and you hardly notice a limp if at all.
