President's Message
Hello ARV Supporters and Volunteers,
November is adopt a Senior month.  So many elderly animals are overlooked just because of their age.  But they too are looking for a forever home and can provide many happy years for the adopters.  We have four senior dogs, Harley (pet of the month), Hope, Starla, and Jini.  Click on their names to learn more about them.  There are many in the shelter as well looking for their forever home.

Pet of the Month
Harley has been patiently waiting for his furever home for 4 1/2 years! Help Harley find his forever home!

He has only one eye due to cruelty of a human. He is a very devoted and loving little guy....but his devotion it seems is limited to one person in the household. He can be friendly and loving to others, but he has displayed overly protective tendencies to the one he has chosen as his.....even if that 'one' has a two legged significant other.

We are looking for a single person for this little guy, someone who is looking for a pint size shadow, a lap warmer, and protector. He loves to sit in laps and gives little kisses and jumps to be picked up. He is happy go lucky at adoptions, he will hop from one lap to another lap to another lap through out the day. But once in a home, he doesn't want to share his person with another.

Success Story
By Sue (Foster)

We rescued Paris and 9 other dogs one day 5 years ago from the Simi Shelter as a hoarder situation arose.  She was then adopted to a wonderful home.  Unfortunately, the owner had to give Paris back because the owner had medical issues.  Luckily, Paris remembered her foster home, but she did miss her Mom.  She would howl for a couple of weeks when the foster mom left for work each morning.  Eventually, she settled down and attached herself to the other dogs and people in the home.

We thought it would be best if we found her a home where she would not be left alone for long periods.  One day a family stopped into adoptions and fell in love with Paris.  It was very obvious the feeling was mutual.  She now has a new Mom and Dad that can take her to work with them and a human sister to sleep and play with.  Paris is doing great with all of the attention she is getting.  Congratulations Paris and her new wonderful family!
