Price Reductions help Samsung to expand lead in Large Format Display
sales through Western European Distribution
19th December 2012 (London, UK): Latest results from CONTEXT’s Western European Distribution Panel show that unit sales of Large Format Displays increased by over +40% year-on-year for the first two months of Q4 2012.
Samsung was the driving force behind this performance, holding almost two thirds of the market after its unit sales increased by +80% for the period.
Samsung capitalised on scales of economy in production to enable price reductions on its top selling screen sizes. So far in Q412, the 40” models have been Samsung's best-sellers, due in part to a reduction in ASPs of -10% over the previous twelve months.
