Concerts at the Cervantes are Back!
This February we are delighted to announce the inauguration of our next season of concerts at the Cervantes Institute, following on from a hugely successful launch last Autumn. Concerts at the Cervantes provides an exciting platform for outstanding emerging artists, starting this year with the oboe-guitar Oatridge-Brown Duo on 26th February. Join us in the venue's beautifully-renovated Auditorium to bask in the warm and colourful classical music of Spain and Latin America (and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine!). More details below.

Concerts at the Cervantes is an exciting new platform for outstanding emerging artists in the field of Iberican classical music. Inaugurating the 2015 programme is the oboe-guitar Oatridge-Brown Duo, blending classical and popular traditions with a programme of Latin-flavoured works, including perennial favourites by PiazzollaRavelLauro and Machado, and spoken interludes to elucidate the music's cultural contexts. Join us in the beautifully-renovated Auditorium at the Instituto Cervantes to bask in the warm and colourful classical music of Spain and Latin America.

PLUS join us after the concert for a complimentary glass of Spanish wine

The music on this well-thought-out disc by the Spanish pianist, Raquel del Val, was recorded live in the concert hall at Leon in 2008 (she teaches at the university), with only the barest detectable audience noise, until we reach the much deserved final applause. Soprano Laura Ruhí-Vidal and classical guitarist Maria Camahort will present a concert with a varied range of Spanish composers from Lorca, Granados and De Falla to Toldrá and Mompou. This journey, involving passionate flavours from the Iberian Peninsula, will explore the touch of seductive love, revenge and sorrow, with some insights of catalan traditional song. Includes several new arrangements by Maria Camahort.
