October = Opera
Hello, and welcome to our October newsletter! This month it's all opera, zarzuela and lieder. ILAMS is delighted to be presenting two concerts as part of the first-ever Spanish Song and Zarzuela Festival taking place in London. Spanish soprano Amaia Azcona Cildoz opens the Festival with guitarist Morgan Szymanski at the Instituto Cervantes on Tuesday 21st October. See below for more information and full listings.

'A brilliant performance.' Opera Now

Amaia Azcona Cildoz is a unique voice amongst the new generation of Spanish sopranos. Armed with an outstandingly beautiful instrument and a rare dynamic expressive aptitude, she has captivated audiences across Spain and the UK, including appearances at Wigmore Hall and LSO St Luke's. A recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she worked under the tutelage of leading figures such as Emma Kirkby and Roger Vignoles, she has won numerous competitions, including the Lillian Ash French Song Competition, and is a Concordia Foundation and Live Music Now artist. She joins forces with pre-eminent British-Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski in a new collaboration showcasing timeless Spanish and Latin American art song classics.

Spanish Song and Zarzuela Festival

The first edition of The Spanish Song and Zarzuela Festival offers a selection of top performers specialized in Spanish and Latin American classical repertoire. Its mission is to bring to London audiences the vocal music of Spain and Latin America, including zarzuela, through recitals, masterclasses, screenings and lectures.
