Hello,
As exams, due dates and deadlines are upon us before the winter break, Creative Loop is having a busy time in preparation for the new academic terms in 2012.
The first newsletter has been a success with great feedback, if you’ve missed Issue One read it here and be sure that you’ve subscribed to receive all future editions.
In this newsletter you’ll find invaluable first hand advice from a Broadcast Journalist at BBC Scotland, there’s news on how to find free workspace to develop your creative projects across the country and there’s a chance for you to submit your work as CreativeLoop.org draws in more industry figures who are actively interested in student projects.
In Profile: Broadcast Journalist.
With the growth in numbers of media students that Scotland is producing, getting work experience and an eventual job has become increasingly competitive over the last five years.
Creative Loop is keen to introduce students to the media, but we understand that places are limited and that some companies and departments are oversubscribed and seemingly impossible to gain access to.
To overcome this we targeted people with highly sought after jobs and found out what they really do on a day to day basis, what the demands and rewards of the positions are and what you can do to get there yourself.
In this episode we talked to Nick Rougvie, Broadcast Journalist at BBC Scotland about his commitment from an early age, why he works in broadcast as opposed to print journalism and why you need to think very carefully about why you want to be a broadcast journalist – plus the unexpected rewards of working in such a challenging role.

Find Space to be Creative Through Somewhereto_

If you’re looking for somewhere to shoot, write, rehearse, produce or create outside of your college, a new initiative called somewhereto_ might be able to help.
Somewhereto_ is a nationwide project to help 16-25 year-olds find the space they need to do the things they love.
So far over 400 active somewhereto_ spaces have been established, ranging from bus companies that allow street artists to spraypaint on a broken-down vehicle, to football clubs that allow young players to use the pitch for practice between training sessions.

Creative Loop Student Media Festival 2012
The Creative Loop Student Media Festival has been confirmed for the 28 - 29th March 2012, and will take place in the CCA, Sauchiehall St Glasgow.
Last year saw seminars, workshops and lectures from talent such as Greg McHugh (Fresh Meat/Gary Tank Commander) and Peter Mullan (Trainspotting, Neds, My Name is Joe) to Ewan Angus (Commissioning Editor for BBC Scotland Television) and Head of independent production company Demus, Nick Low.
With such a high caliber of speakers we’ve got our work cut out for us in preparation for the next festival and will bring you all the details as soon as we can.

Showcase Yourself!
CreativeLoop.org has been getting a little silicon surgery recently, and will soon be ready to provide a focused online platform, community and hub for the creative industry in Scotland; somewhere where students can visit to gain practical experience, make contacts and showcase their work.
We are gathering a collection of students and alumi's work in one place so that those that matter in the industry can visit one resource to see what you are really capable of. It's a great opportunity to showcase your work and see what other students in Scotland are creativing.
The Showcase will be launched after the winter break, so if you would like your productions to be featured, email production@creativeloop.org for more details.
