Translator in Action

One of our senior translators, Dr. Geshe Lozang Jamspal, joined 84000 for an interview to share his personal journal and inspiration for becoming a translator. Geshe-la describes how he started translating: first from Tibetan into Hindi, and then from Tibetan into English. He then discusses the importance of translating, citing the worrying observation that many Tibetans, including his own nieces and nephews, can no longer write in Tibetan.

Inspired by the interview? Consider applying to join 84000 as a translator. The 2015 grant cycle is now open! Review the guidelines to see if your translation team is eligible to join. The deadline is July 15, 2015. READ MORE

A Summer of Fun, and Improvements
84000 has a lot planned this summer. After many months of hard work, we are launching phase one of our updated Reading Room. The changes make it more informative and user-friendly, as well as accessible on both computers and mobile devices.

The updated design allows visitors to view the entire Kangyur and Tengyur as traditionally designed, with both sections and subdivisions, and all collection titles listed. Also new are "learn more" buttons for each section that provide background information for interested readers.

Check out the updated Reading Room User Guide to explore the new features, and stay tuned for more updates in the coming months. READ MORE
