Vol III, Issue 20

Our third annual Salat Center campaign is in full bloom. Alhamdulillah, we are at 155 Salat Centers with many reports still to be tallied. In addition, hundreds of families are offering congregational Salat at home. Is your family reaping the benefits of congregational Salat? Here is why you should join this blessed obligation:

From the Holy Qur’an

[2:4] Who believe in the unseen and observe Prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

“If three men in a village or in the desert, make no arrangement for Salat in congregation, Satan must have certainly overcome them. So observe Salat in congregation, for the wolf eats up a solitary sheep that stays far from the flock.”
– Abu Daud

Explaining the above verse of the Holy Qur’an, Muslih Maood (ra) explains in Tafsir Kabir:
Muslims have generally forgotten about the necessity of offering Prayers in congregation and this is one of the biggest reasons for divisions and dissension in the Muslim world. Allah, Almighty has placed many individual and communal blessings in this form of worship, yet Muslims have sadly forgotten them. Wherever the Noble Qur`an has instructed Prayers, it has instructed congregational Prayers; nowhere has the Qur`an instructed the plain observance of Prayers without congregation.

Tip of the week
Do you have a Masjid or Salat Center close to you that you can reach every day? Check here and search by your zipcode (top right corner). If you cannot find one, contact us and we will help you set one up Insha Allah. Be not the solitary sheep that’s eaten by the wolves!
Success story of the week
We in Washington, D.C. Jama'at have established one Salat Center in addition to our Fazal Mosque. Ever since 200 Salat Centers scheme was launched for the first time, this Salat Center is functional. Initially we were offering Maghrib & Isha prayer combined on daily basis. During last Ramadan we started offering Fajar prayer as well and continued it after the Ramadan. Now by the grace of Allah, we are offering Fajar and Maghrib/ Isha prayer daily.
[93:12] And the bounty of thy Lord, proclaim.
Share your success story. How did you start your Salat Center? How did you overcome challenged and built up success? Share it and motivate others!
