Did You Know?

Cereal Box Characters are Designed to Make Eye Contact:

This builds brand loyalty. Characters on cereals intended for adults, which are usually placed on upper store shelves, generally look straight ahead or slightly up to make eye contact with adults.  Characters on child-oriented cereals look slightly downward to make eye contact with kids. Great NLP technique and marketing ploy!!! (Research at Cornell Food and Brand Lab, NY. Published in Environment and Behavior.)

Better Ways To Make Veggies and Herbs Last Longer:

Put onions in an old clean pantyhose, and tie a knot between each one to keep them separate. They will stay fresh for up to eight months.  Keep potatoes away from onions, but store them with apples to keep them from sprouting.  Place asparagus and delicate herbs such as parsley, cilantro, and chives stems down in a glass of water kept in the fridge.  Store fresh ginger root in the freezer and grate it frozen when you need it for cooking.  Keep mushrooms in a paper bag in the fridge or in a cool place. (Joseph M. Mercola, MD, who provides natural health information and resources at Mercola.com)

Food Portions Today are 4X Bigger Than They Were in the 50s:

The average hamburger was 3.9 ounces in the 1950s, versus 12 ounces now.  A serving of fries is less than 7 ounces, up from 2.4 ounces.  And the average soda today is 40 ounces compared to only 7.  No wonder why so many Americans are overweight. (Center for Disease Control and Prevention.)

Inspirational Quotes

“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer.  Let us not seek to fix the blame for the pastlet us accept our own responsibility for the future.”

~John F. Kennedy

“Strength doesn’t come from lifting weights; it comes from lifting oneself when knocked down.”

~Bob Moore

“Every problem contains within its seed, an opportunity that can change your life.”

“Always pretend you’re a tea kettle.  Even though its up to its neck in hot water, it always sings.”

Testimonials

“I find NLP an extremely effective way to help my clients let go of thought patterns and beliefs that are no longer working for them, which opens them up to entirely new possibilities in their lives. The NLP process brings about profound change in a short time and I cannot imagine my practice without it.”  ~Gillian

Letter from the Executive Director
box_top.gif

Hi Everyone,

“If you could do anything in your life and you knew you couldn’t fail, what would it be?”

How many of you have had a desire to do something but put it off?

I think I can speak for the majority of us...we either are too busy, distracted, or things just happen that get in our way. We may even doubt our ability to turn our passion into a reality. Looking back in time, we often shrug our shoulders with regret and move on.

So my question to you is, “If not now…when?”

In 1962 four nervous young musicians played their first record audition for the executives of the Decca Recording Company. The executives were not impressed. While turning down this British rock group called The Beatles, one executive said, “We don’t like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out.”

Can you only imagine what our world of rock and roll would be like today if The Beatles stopped in their pursuit, listened to someone else’s opinion, and didn’t pursue their dreams?

Everything that happens in your life today is determined by the power of your thoughts and your ability to imagine putting it in action, and then just do it.

By changing your thoughts…you change your humanity.

I, along with 42,000+ other excited fans, was privileged to see and hear Paul McCartney play at San Diego’s Petco Park this past Sunday.  The energy there was unbelievable as we all sang and felt the music of this incredible legend, an icon that helped change our world.  One of many songs on Paul’s play list was a direct tribute to John Lennon’s song, “Imagine.”

“…Imagine no possessions…I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger…A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people…Sharing all the world

You may say I’m a dreamer…But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us…And the world will live as one”

Paul McCartney, along John, George, and Ringo had a dream and they dreamt it big and changed humanity.

Now, how are you going to change your world? The door is unlocked--it’s up to you to open it, step inside, and make it yours.

The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams…Be the fullest expression of YOU.

To Your Success,

Marla Brucker, DCH, R.HA

A Special Thanks...

Our open house last month was a great success.  I want to thank Andrew Utley for leading us in an empowering and enlightening PlayShop presentation on “Uncovering the Secret of Body Language.” I hope you had fun, did a lot of networking, and have already utilized some of the wonderful techniques you learned.
