The Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship is provided jointly by the Schipper Family and EMBARQ, and will award one extraordinary candidate up to $10,000 to advance transformative research in efficient and sustainable transport, and honor the legacy of Dr. Leon J. Schipper. Dr. Schipper was a co-founder of EMBARQ and dedicated his professional life to the efficient use of energy in mobility. An astrophysicist and a studied musician, Dr. Schipper was an iconoclast in the field of energy efficiency.

Last year's recipients were Mr. Sudhir Gota (India) and Ms. Fei Li (China), who will present their work at the Transforming Transportation 2014 conference (#ttdc14) in January. For more information on eligibility and application instructions, please consult the Scholarship guidance document and website at leeschipper.embarq.org.
