YVFP Organizes Youth Panel at SEJ Conference

for Flint residents. She created Children for Flint to introduce youth to current issues and volunteer opportunities and to provide a platform to amplify

their voices.

Victoria Barrett felt firsthand climate impacts from Hurricane Sandy on her town of White Plains, NY. As an OUR CHILDREN'S TRUST plaintiff, she will be joined by

twenty other youth plaintiffs in this "Trial of the Century."

Lou HelmuthOUR CHILDREN'S TRUST director, described the background of the case and chilled the audience of journalists with news of how aggressively the White House has been trying to stop this case and stifle the children's voices.

YVFP Speaks out at DRAWDOWN LEARN

IMG_4027Along with 200 educators, government officials, non-profits and others concerned about climate change, Lynne Cherry participated in OMEGA DRAWDOWN LEARN. Inspired by Paul Hawken's book DRAWDOWN, this gathering shared the many ways that CO2 can be drawn out of the atmosphere and how to educate about it.  Lynne's panel discussed the history of climate communication, the detrimental effect of gloom and doom and how scientific information can be introduced with positive empowering information.

Fairfax Breaks the Silence on Climate Justice

We are thrilled to learn of the recent news that Fairfax County Schools, the 10th largest school district in the country, recently passed a climate action resolution.
Park Guthrie of Schools for Climate Action, which inspired the resolution, wrote:

Fairfax_County_Public_Schools_Logo-1 “Thank you, Fairfax County School Board,
for having the courage to break the social
norm of climate silence in order to protect
your students. May all 14,000 school board
in the nation follow your lead. Together the
educational sector can help break the
logjam on common sense climate action in
Congress.

Catherine Rides for Kids & Climate

Catherine Bock is a generous supporter of Young Voices for the Planet. In a recent correspondence with us, Catherine shared this exciting update:

20180916_153751

"I rode the Michigan climate ride in September 2018 to raise money for Young Voices for the Planet. This was my 10th ride and I've raised money for many different organizations. The best thing about these rides is that you meet so many people who are doing work for the planet in different ways. It's always a challenge to ride between 50 and 90 miles a day but at the end it's great to feel the accomplishment and to know that it's for a good cause like your organization. I think it would be fun to get a team of kids to do a ride at some point."

Catherine raised an outstanding $2,800 some of which will directly support YVFP. THANK YOU, Catherine, for your kind words and your support.. and Way to Go!!
