The Young Voices for the Planet Films are Included in "Our Time to Lead: Youth Engagement on Climate Change


Inspired by YVFP films, 5th-Graders "Skip the STRAW"

These fifth grade students created a Skip the Straw campaign in Falmouth, MA after viewing the YVFP films showing youth working for environmental change. The students' seek to convince restaurants to offer straws to customers only when requested.  “Everyday 500 million straws are used in the United States alone,” said 5th grader Kalea Holdren. (CapeNews.net, Sept, 25, 2015)


Young Voices for the Planet Youth and Director Address National Education Forum at WGBH in Boston

After the screening, the young stars from SAVE TOMORROW and DREAMING IN GREEN spoke on a panel about the power of the youth voice.

               The Forum's live stream had over 1400 online viewers!

Science teachers often find teaching about climate change challenging; when they discuss the dire consequences of rising CO2, students have a propensity to shut down. 

The common belief has been that if people understood climate change science, they would want to do something about it. 

But years of speaking to students Lynne Cherry found that inspiring stories work better - and the social science is bearing this out.


The article originally appeared in the October 2015 issue of NSTA Reports, the member newspaper of the National Science Teachers Association.


YVCC's Director Lynne Cherry Cycles 350+ miles in the CLIMATE RIDE and raises $9000 for Climate Non-Profits

On September 21st, hundreds of supporters came to cheer and celebrate the 120 Climate Riders as they rode onto the historic Boston Common - the culmination of a 5-day 350-mile bike ride from Bar Harbor, Maine. 

We were able to raise an amazing $9000 toward support for the Young Voices for the Planet films, their outreach and continued impact.

Recent YVFP Film TV Broadcasts, Screenings and Events


San Francisco PBS Broadcasts YVFP Films over 50 Times 

KRCB logoKRCB will continue to broadcast the Young Voices for the Planet films for three years as well as featuring them on their website and promoting them on social media. KRCB has had an overwhelmingly positive response to YVFP's stories of youth solutions to the climate crisis.

Please suggest to your local PBS station that they broadcast the YVFP films, too!


Save Tomorrow Stars and Producer on Emerald Planet TV

Other special guests were Mark Sandeen, Chair of "Sustainable Lexington" Committee, Town of Lexington, Massachusetts and Joel Lindsay, PE, CEM, Business Development Manager of Ameresco Solar PV Grid-Tie Group.


Green Schools Screens YVFP films

Two hundred students learned how to "Dream In Green" in partnership with Green Schools and Young Voices for the Planet! (Green Student Network, October 2015)


Young Stars of "Save Tomorrow" Answer Questions after Climate Ride Screening

Alice Mari speaking9439Inspired by the other Young Voices for the Planet films, three 9-year-old girls realized that they might be able to make a difference, too. 

The Young Voices for the Planet film "Save Tomorrow" documents how the Save Tomorrow team helped to overturn a law prohibiting solar panels on town buildings and saved their local woods. If you have not yet seen the film, you can watch Save Tomorrow HERE
