Earth Day News from Young Voices on Climate Change

Huffington Post Features Young Voices on Climate Change

Cintia Cabib, the film production and outreach coordinator at Young Voices on Climate Change, has written a blog post about the Young Voices for the Planet film series for the Huffington Post.  Cintia writes that the positive environmental stories in the films "present a stark contrast to the recent grim reports on the worldwide effects of global warming issued by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change."  Read how producer Lynne Cherry's documentaries act as an antidote to fear and overcome "motivated avoidance."  Please share the article on Facebook and Twitter!

Lynne Cherry Speaks at Maret School in Washington, D.C.

Lynne Maret dreamgreen girlsnew2cropLynne Cherry kicked off Maret School's Environmental Spirit Week with a presentation to the Lower School about her children's books, loving and respecting the earth, and what youth can do to make a difference.  Lynne also screened the Young Voices for the Planet film Team Marine, which follows a group of students at Santa Monica High School who successfully ban plastic bags in their city.  As part of the school's Spirit Week theme "We Reuse!," Maret School students are donating used sneakers, clothes, furniture and appliances for reusing and recycling, learning to make musical instruments from other items, visiting Scrap DC to find out how to reuse everyday materials as art supplies, and engaging in many more environmental activities.  Photo credit:  Opeyemi Laniyonu, Maret School.
