Join the fight against hunger in America

Hi Stephen,

I was talking with a small gathering outside the Church on Sunday morning. We were all excited about the launch of our new website and how we hoped that it would help us to expand our reach to many more people who would want to give just a small amount each month to feed hungry children and families.

One of our group suddenly piped up and said “I feel so guilty that I have so much when there are others who have so little”.

I thought it was really sad that someone was being stopped from enjoying the good things that they had by feeling guilty about what others didn’t have. I certainly think that with privilege comes responsibility, and that those of us that do have an abundance of good things are in a great position to help those that are not, but I cannot bring myself to feel guilty every day when I am able to sit down to a great home-cooked meal and enjoy what I have, that there are many others that are going hungry. Formula Stretching.
Some families that can't afford enough infant Baby Formulaformula resort to risky "formula stretching," watering down infant formula or skipping feedings, researchers say.

This can have significant health consequences on an infant's developing brain, increasing the risk for learning, behavioral and psychological problems, according to two new studies from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Read More...

Children Join Turkey Club America.
Children at the International Faiths Center in New Jersey have joined Turkey Club America at the Gold Level and pledged to raise $20 every month to feed hungry children. This month they are organizing a Car Wash to raise funds and have plans for a bake sale to cover next month's dues.
"We realize that this is a big commitment" said Hannah Logan the children's supervisor "but the children are really keen and know that they have to be consistent. We don't want them just to bring money from their parents, we hope that we can continue to organize a small event every month that will be fun for all of us and help us to remember why we are doing this". Letter of the Month

I want to say a big thank you for your support of the Backpack Lunch program. This month, thanks to your generous commitment we have increased participation to include all the children who are at risk and extended the program to include weekend backpacks for those who we know do not get fed properly at home.
It makes a real difference to the children's ability to concentrate at school and we notice a positive change in behavior patterns when they are not hungry.
