ICLEI South Asia E-News

February 2017

Emani Kumar
Deputy Secretary General, ICLEI and Executive Director, ICLEI South Asia

After a year full of diverse activities, initiatives, events, commitments and actions on the field, sitting back to review them has been an equally significant exercise for ICLEI South Asia.

January was the month when the team from ICLEI South Asia, including the staff members stationed at various regional and project city offices, came together for its annual review-cum-retreat, held in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India. Spanning over two days, the annual gathering was a blend of discussions over what was done, the way forward and some fun team building activities. While 2016 saw many projects successfully coming to a closure, this year, we shall explore new arenas like biodiversity. Also, we hope to maintain and strengthen our communication with you.

In January, ICLEI South Asia also launched a web tool that brings together most of the existing information around smart cities. You are invited to review the tool and contribute to it. A roundtable was organised to bring together various stakeholders and experts to share experiences and challenges around the Government of India’s Smart City Mission.

We have developed an assessment report on the climatic impacts on different urban sectors for the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh – Amaravati.

This newsletter features a lot more, including our sustainability champions for this month.
