Sharing of Best Practices in Urban Development

The session aims to highlight the need for developing climate smart cities through sharing best practices, greater collaboration, and enhanced networking and partnerships amongst different stakeholders, as part of the solution. It will showcase key success (mitigation and adaptation) by cities across the globe on climate change and their role as change agents. Ambitious and all-inclusive low carbon interventions in different sectors including energy, transport, housing and waste by cities would be disseminated to a global audience. The national government and city representatives at the session will also share their experiences on development, implementation and outcomes of the ClimateSMART Cities Assessment Framework.

Advancing Climate Change Goals through Multi-Level Governance and Green Cities

Representatives from national and sub-national governments from China, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and
Vietnam showcase success stories and outcomes from policies on vertical linkages for climate action,
implementation of city climate action plans and green city action plans.

Under the leadership of the Vietnam Government, this session also features insights from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Government of Germany, on the importance of integrated action to support NDC Ambition.

Multi-Stakeholder Driven Climate Action: Role of Women and Marginalised Communities

The session aims to discuss the different means of identification of stakeholders and forms of stakeholder engagement that can lead to successful and inclusive climate action by local governments. It would witness knowledge sharing and deliberations through a panel discussion featuring distinguished representatives from government and non-governmental sectors from India and some African and Latin American countries.
