Fifth Regional Workshop on Integrated Resource Management in Asian Cities: the Urban Nexus11 Indian officials were among the 120 participants that attended the Fifth Regional Workshop on “Integrated Resource Management in Asian cities: the Urban Nexus”, which took place from 17 to 19 June 2015 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and was organised by ESCAP in partnership with GIZ, the Municipality of Chiang Mai and ICLEI. A first-of-its-kind one day training programme was also organized for the participants by GIZ and ICLEI on urban nexus. Read more |

Acknowledging the zeal and vigor of the numerous cities which have been a part of this initiative, the EHCC 2015-16 campaign was launched on 1 July, 2015. The theme for this year’s challenge is ‘Bridging the Gap’, which refers to the gap between the aggregated global climate commitments and the additional commitments and actions necessary to keep global warming below the 2°C mark. Resilient Cities 2015 Congress – All that happenedThe 6th Edition of the Resilient Cities 2015 Congress brought to light a local and global focus – or, as Mayor Jürgen Nimptsch of Bonn put it, a “glocal” focus. Nimptsch emphasized the importance of the congress, commenting, “This is much more than a panel dialogue or position paper. This is about saving lives.” Nimptsch’s comment was reinforced by Datuk Seri Ir. Hj. Idris bin Hj. Haron – the Chief Minister of Melaka State Government, Malaysia. Read more |
