ICLEI South Asia COP24 Special E-News

January 2019

Emani Kumar
Deputy Secretary General, ICLEI and Executive Director, ICLEI South Asia

Greetings readers!

December saw our active presence in COP24 at Katowice, Poland. ICLEI South Asia played a key role in promoting multi-level climate action at various government and non-government platforms. We showcased how various sub-national actors in India are already working on integrating climate and urban planning in their respective cities. These actors are also keen to collaborate with national and global stakeholders to enhance their efforts. This edition focuses on the dialogues and outcomes from the conference.

Besides, we initiated a dialogue on ‘Financing NDC Implementation through Blended Finance and Green Bonds’ through the Asia LEDS Partnership and LEDS Global Partnership Finance Working Group, with funding support from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

In order to understand the critical ecosystems of Panaji and the issues these ecosystems are facing, ICLEI South Asia organised a workshop in the city under the BMU supported INTERACT-Bio project. The event aimed to identify possible nature-based solutions for these issues.
