Musical Village Open House

Friends of BBSCF,

BBSCF Day 1 (157)

One of the highlights of Brigitte's trip to Ghana in April was the Musical Village Open House.  Our employees moved into the Musical Village last July and the students began attending programs there in August.  But we had never formally welcomed the greater Ada community.

On April 10 we did just that.  Over 80 guests attended our Open House celebration including government officials, community leaders, traditional chiefs and queens, pastors and parents.   The afternoon was a celebration of our Foundation values of education and music and an affirmation of our commitment to the children of Ghana.

Read on for highlights of the event.  We hope that you can experience some of the energy and excitement from that day.

Biakoye,

Brigitte Poublon and Bobby Sherman

BBSCF Day 1 (177) 2The sounds of music signaled the start of the festivities.  The Choir from the Apostles Revelation Society Church in Ada made a dramatic entrance as they sang their way from the main gate of the Musical Village to the Pavilion.

Our Master of Ceremonies, Isaac Djagbletey, greeted our guests and introduced the dignitaries in attendance.  A local radio personality, he handled his role with great enthusiasm and flair.

  Brigitte shared her and Bobby's
  personal stories that inspired the
work of the Foundation and the
  goals, services provided and
  accomplishments to date.

Our students took the stage for a dancing and drumming performance under the direction of Kofi Appiah, our music and art director.  Although they were nervous, they performed like seasoned professionals.  It was hard to believe that Kofi has only been teaching them since January!

BBSCF Day 1 (253)The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Brigitte and Nene Tsatsu Pediator IV,  the traditional chief who provided BBSCF with the land for the Musical Village.  He has been supportive of BBSCF since the beginning.

The guests then toured the Musical Village grounds and buildings.  All were impressed with the quality of the facilities and the resources available for the students.

All Hands on Deck!

An event like the Open House does not happen without lots of planning and preparation.   The Pavilion, the location for the Open House, received special attention. Below is a photo of it beautifully decorated and featuring the head table.

BBSCF Day 1 (140) 3

The kitchen staff cooked over 100 meals for our guests to enjoy. This was in addition to the everyday cooking they do for the staff and students!

BBSCF Day 1 (53)

Our teachers took a break from the classroom to help the students and welcome our guests.
