BB_AnnualRpt-icon1At Brighter Beginnings, we see success at every level.  Seeing the strengths of the teen parent, or the developing child, or the African American pregnant mom, helps to affirm their ability to have purpose and hope for their future.  Our strength based approach means that we firmly believe that parents do want the best for their child, and that they are their first and most important teachers.     more 

Playing Together for a Brighter Beginning

Kathy-Toon-and-Group1Brighter Beginnings held its 5th annual tennis tournament fundraiser on Saturday, September 15 at the Moraga Country Club.  This year’s event included a golf tournament as well as the “traditional” tennis tournament, in addition to a silent auction, a live auction, seminar by Kathy Toon, games, a raffle, open bar, dinner, and entertainment.  And as they say, a good time was had by all.  But the true meaning of the event, aside from having fun and socializing, focused on providing free help to our community members in Contra Costa County who are without medical insurance.     more

Alex and ALA Meet the Board

Alex_Board_photo11Brighter Beginnings (BB) Board Members welcomed two BB Program Staff and a BB client to its early September Board Meeting. Alex, one of the participants of the Alumni Leadership Academy (ALA) was thrilled to have the opportunity to speak to the Board about his experience as a teen father, how BB programs have helped him, and about his aspirations for the future. Vincente Lara, Fatherhood Services & Special Projects Coordinator and Nailah Hunter, Community Engagement Coordinator presented to the Board information about the Peer Leadership Program and the new Alumni Leadership Academy (ALA).

Volunteers Needed for our New Free Medical Clinic

Medical-ClinicThe RotaCare Richmond Free Medical Clinic at Brighter Beginnings will be opening this fall and is looking for caring, compassionate volunteers to join the team.    more
