L'elisir d'amore   Celebration at Chandi   Coffee & Conversation

L'elisir d'amore is This Weekend!

Cecilia Violetta López performed at last week's Operatini. Her rendition of "Io son l'umile ancella" from Adriana Lecouvreur left those in attendance in awe of her vocal mastery. This weekend she will be using that beautiful voice to give life to Adina, club owner in our updated production of Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore to a 1950's USO-style nightclub.

Cecilia Violetta López singing "Io son l'umile ancella" at Operatini: Liquid Courage

L'elisir d'amore was written during the bel canto era. Bel canto, which means "beautiful singing," focuses specifically on the voice and the melodic line: it demands singing with beauty, elegance, flexibility, and an assured technique. The voice and the singer's virtuosity and vocal fireworks are the preeminent features of the bel canto art form. Cecilia's interpretation expertly integrates all the requirements of bel canto with poignancy, eloquence and intense passion ... it's no wonder Opera News named her one of opera's "25 Rising Stars" in 2015 (click here to read the article).

Click the image above the watch Cecilia's 2016 interview for Idaho Public Television's "Dialogue" with host Marcia Franklin about her career, life and love of opera.

On September 20, 2017, Cecilia was presented with a copy of the resolution introduced in Idaho's Legislature honoring and congratulating her for her many achievements in the world of opera.
