Dear Handmaids and Servants of the Gardener,

Happy Feast of St. Agnes, virgin and martyr!

Let me share now our Second Big Announcement of 2015.

wmof-logo 2
As I hope that many of you know by now, Pope Francis will be making a pilgrimage to the USA. The event that started it is the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. As of Sunday, though, the Pope announced that he will also visit Washington, DC and New York during that same trip.

Since we are a family apostolate, and since his main purpose is to spend time with families, we want to help you to participate as much as you are able in this once-in-a- lifetime event. I think it is better to understand our activity as three phases.

The first phase is the Preparation Phase.

We began this phase in December for the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois with the diocesan wide pilgrimage of the relics of Blessed Louis and Zelie Martin. The next part of this phase is a five week study of the preparatory catechesis in the Jasper Deanery of the Diocese of Evansville. Let me explain how this will happen and how you can participateT1651_300.

The theme of the World Meeting of Families is “Love is our mission: the Family fully alive.” Our Sunday Visitor is the publisher of the preparatory catechesis in book form. The book is divided into 10 lessons with each lesson having study questions at the end. Each book costs $9.95, and it is an excellent overview of God's plan for love, marriage, and family.

OFF CAMPUS STUDY OF LOVE IS OUR MISSION. Below is the schedule of dates, parishes and times when I will be leading a study of Love Is Our Mission. You may purchase the book online from OSV, or you can buy a copy at one of these parishes. Please bring along your Bible and a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church with you to each session. There is no charge for the classes, but we will ask for a free will offering.

Session 1 February 15-21
Session 2 February 22-28
Session 3 March 1-7
Session 4 March 8-14
Session 5 March 15 - 21

Each session will be presented 4 times on the following days and places. For example, if you belong to Holy Family Parish, but are unable to attend on Sunday evening, you may attend the same session on Monday evening  of that week at St. Joseph Parish.

Day Time Place
Sundays 6:30-8:00 p.m. Holy Family, Fellowship Hall
Mondays 6:30-8:00 p.m. St. Joseph, Parish Center
Tuesdays 6:30-8:00 p.m. St. Ferdinand, Spiritual Life Center
Thursdays 6:30-8:00 p.m. St. Anthony, Padua Center

The second phase is the Participation Phase.

The World Meeting of Families is actually the one name given to several events in Philadelpia around the same theme.

EVENT 1: The Adult Congress and the Youth Congress are two different tracks at the same time from Tuesday - Friday, September 22-25, 2015 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The general schedule is available online here. At this event, we plan to have a vendor table. We have offered to lead groups throughout these several days in our Readers' Theater Rosary. We hope to hear soon if our offer has been accepted. So, we need to set up our vendor table on Mon. Sept. 21. During this time, adults and youth may attend the different sessions of the Adult and Youth Congresses. More detailed information is available here. Registration and payment are required to attend these.

EVENT 2: Festival of Families on Saturday, September 26, 2015 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Details will be forthcoming. However, you may learn some preliminary information here. No registration or payment is required to attend this event.

EVENT 3: Papal Mass on Sunday, September 27, 2015 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Details will be forthcoming. No registration or payment is required to attend this event.

If you cannot physically attend the WMOF 2015, you may join in offering the official prayer regularly. You may find it here.

Would you like to make the pilgrimage to WMOF 2015 with St. Joseph's Holy Family, Inc.? We would love to have members of our community there and joining with families from all over the world. This is a SHOUT OUT to our friends near Philadelphia and along the route from southern Indiana to Philadelphia: We could use your help in finding accommodations with other Catholic families in PA or NJ so that we can make this pilgrimage as prayerful and as affordable as possible for as many of our community members. You may contact us immediately to begin the brainstorming.

For those in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky who want to travel with us, we need to know You may send us an e-mail with that information to sjhf@psci.net or use the donor card below and put the relevant information in the space for prayer requests. We need to know general interest by Feb. 1. This is not a firm commitment; just let us know if you are thinking about it. We need to begin to gauge how many people we might be taking on pilgrimage. Many hotels and motels are already booked. So, we will be looking for alternate types of housing.

Donor-Card

If you cannot attend but would like to do so very much, you may attend by spiritual proxy through one of our families who will physically be there. They will carry photos of you and any particular religious item that you want the Holy Father to bless, as long as you get it to us by September 1.

I inadvertantly remarked yesterday that we began the year with $0. We actually began the New Year with $320, but our bills are adding up much faster than donations. So, we can use your financial help immediately and as we prepare for this pilgrimage. You may use the donor card above or make a donation on line at our website.

Also, even though I have led pilgrimages before and enjoy doing so, I would appreciate volunteer help to organize all of the details. As a matter of fact, I could use regular volunteer help in the office for many, many things. Please let me know ASAP how much time you can donate.

The third phase is the Implementation Phase.

The details are being updated, but we have a master plan for a facility to lead the renewal of Catholic family life from God's Country in southern Indiana. Building on the momentum of the past five years, we want to realize this Big Dream. You can help us to do it.Greg_Haas_Mark_Ginter_Dream_Big_IN_State_KC_Convention4-10b

If I have not shown you the artists' renderings and the master plan, but you would like to see it, please contact me. I love sharing what I believe the Holy Spirit has given as a gift for families and for the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.

Feel free to throw out a challenge grant for others to come forth in supporting your apostolate. Recently, many people have told me how much they appreciated the periodic updates during the Twice Blessed Campaign. It gave them a real incentive to participate and to see if you were going to make the goal. YOU DID!

Why do you need to stop giving now, though? Let's start off a challenge campaign for the World Meeting of Families. Let me know what you will put up if the other members of our community will match it. If I think it is an accurate amount of what I anticipate will meet our needs, then I will publish it.

Instead, if you just wish to level out our financial needs with a monthly contribution, that would help even out our operating expenses more favorably.

In the meantime, let us keep one another in prayer. I rely on your prayers and sacrifices daily, and I pledge to you my prayers and sacrifices daily, and the prayers of all of us when we get together for our different events.

St. Agnes, pray for us.
Blessed Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us and for the renewal of Catholic family life.
St. Joseph, pray for the provision and the protection of all of our community members.
Our Lady, Star of the New Evangelization, pray for all of the needs of the handmaids and servants of the Gardener.

God's PEACE!
Mark
