"John Green, Early Nyack Businessman"

John Green has come to the Nyack Library!


The Historical Society of the Nyacks is exhibiting material on John Green in its exhibit cases in the Carnegie - Farian Room inside the entrance to the original Nyack Library through May.


The exhibit includes a brief history of John Green and his contributions to the growth of Nyack, including his advocacy for the Nyack Turnpike (Rte.59) and the building of steamboats to provide transportation of goods and raw materials to New York City.

The exhibit also includes information about the John Green House on lower Main Street.

Treasures from the John Green House: 


Featured in the cases will be objects found in the John Green house during its current preservation work, some from the 19th century, and some from the 20th.
