Share Your Ideas at a Parent Focus Group on Thurs., August 21st at 7:00 pm

Last Spring, TAG held its first ‘Ideas Festival’ at Townview for our TAG students. The purpose of this event was to seek out the perspectives and feedback of our students on everything from individual classes, to the overall TAG experience, to components of our program such as TREK and Forum.  From this event we gained a treasure trove of information and ideas that will impact how we operate as a school at every level.  What we didn’t capture in this Ideas Festival was parent and community input. Through the upcoming Parent Focus Group and PTSA Survey, we are seeking to gain a deeper understanding of parent perspectives and feedback, as well as community input into the priorities and direction of the school.

Please join us and share your voice by attending our Parent Focus Group on Thursday, August 21st at 7:00 pm in the Center for Communities Cooperation Oak Room, 2900 Live Oak St., Dallas (map). Feel free to bring your students as well if you’d like.

Save the Date!  Sept. 7th!

PTSA

Being a member of PTSA (Parent, Teacher, and Student Association) is a great way to be involved in continuing TAG’s ability to excel. All parents, students, and teachers are invited to join PTSA this year. By joining, you are supporting many events, programs and activities at TAG. Studies show that involved parents tend to have safer and higher achieving students. And, our student and faculty members provide an important voice in the selection, planning and development of programs funded and delivered by the PTSA. Joining is easy! Simply fill out the PTSA membership envelope each student will be bringing home and return it to the school office. Or, go online to www.tagptsa.com to join! To join online, click on the "Parent" tab along the top of the page, then click on "Join the PTSA." If you have membership questions, please contact Ledith Blair, PTSA Membership Chair, at ledithb@yahoo.com.

Families who join will receive a free 2014-2015 TAG School Directory when it is published.

On Monday, June 2nd, Mr. Mackey officiated his first TAG Commencement. Honored guests included former Principal Mr. Satarino and Trustee Dr. Lew Blackburn, among others. Each of this year's graduates will be missed; each has made TAG proud! Highlights for the graduating seniors included the Senior Banquet with slide show, Senior Picnic and other activities, and 2014 Commencement. This year's 57 seniors earned just over $11 million dollars in scholarships, for an average of over $192K per student. Speeches and comments at Commencement highlighted the sense of family and close bonds forged by this class. Congratulations and best of luck in your future endeavors, graduates! And don't forget to come back and visit!
