Subiendo is an intensive five day leadership academy created at The University of Texas at Austin to prepare the next generation of leaders to address critical issues facing Texas. It is free for students, and travel scholarships are available. Students move away from the traditional classroom experience by participating in role-playing exercises centered around policy issues important to the future of Texas; interacting one-on-one with business, political, and community leaders; and developing skills to take their ideas and turn them into reality. Students stay in a college dormitory with college leaders who not only guide the students throughout the week, but also mentor the students during the college application process. Painless Fundraiser Update

From TAG PTSA Fundraising:
100 per cent of Goal copy 2
Let's have 100% participation from our TAG Families!
While we've met our initial dollar goal of $20,000 only about 25% of our families have given. Now let's focus on getting 100% participation by having each TAG household contribute to our Painless Fundraiser. We are so grateful to all of you who have so generously donated! As the year-end approaches, please consider making a gift to the Painless Fundraiser if you have not done so already. Each and every donation is important. Working together, with 100% participation from all our TAG families, we can exceed this dollar goal and thereby be able to contribute even more to keeping TAG the excellent school it has been for all of our children! Let's join together and demonstrate our collective commitment by getting all of our TAG families to contribute. No donation is too small. 100% of our TAG households contributing to keep our school exceptional is an incredible demonstration of the strength of our community.
Next Steps:
Make checks payable to TAG PTSA; send them to the TAG office addressed to TAG PTSA Painless Fundraiser. Or go online and click on the following tab: "Donate" and then click on the "Donate Now" button. Please note that your donation is tax-deductible. Your employer may be willing to match your donation, so please ask. If you have friends or family that might be willing to contribute, please ask for their support as well.

TAG Robotics Team

Members of the TAG Robotics team, ROBOTAG, are pictured above. Front row: Alex Nazaruk. Second row, left to right: Adelle Jia, Kimberly Fontillas, Olivia Hayden, Ty Farris, and Nithin Panchakarla. Third row, left to right: Marin Clarke, Abhishek Obili, Dayton Smith, Ajay Raja, Aaqil Shihab, Prasanna Kurar, Tre' Bohannon, Alex Hancock, Mera Tegene, and Jordin Guzman. Fourth row, left to right: Faculty Sponsor Dr. Eric Strong and TAG Parents Neal Farris, Robert Hayden, and Mike Harris. (Team members Cole Powers and Satvik Pendyala are not pictured).

The TAG Robotics Team, ROBOTAG, competed in the Dallas BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science & Technology) competition at Eastfield College on October 18th. The team received a finite amount of material that could then be used to construct a robot, and the group was given six weeks to prepare. The competition was divided into three different categories, which required different roles for team members, including a presentation team, a building/programming team, and a notebook team. The group's overall mission was to build a robot that could ultimately assemble a windmill. The robot they created was actually able to both pick up and drag objects (made of PVC) over a bridge and even open gates. Next, the robot assembled the various objects in order to complete its mission of creating a windmill.
This year, the TAG Robotics Team won 5th place out of 24 participating schools. The team's competitors included last year's state champs and larger, more experienced teams. Some of the competing teams even take an elective class during the school day to prepare for the competition.
