2014 Intellectual Property Accelerator Fund Awards Announced

Princeton University has awarded funds to four faculty-led research projects aimed at developing new technologies that have the potential to benefit society. The funds will go toward developing prototypes or conducting proof-of-concept research to enable the transformation of nascent technologies into commercially successful applications. See full article.

Highlighted Funding Opportunities

The Offices of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) and Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) have highlighted external funding opportunities that may be of interest to the Princeton research community. Federal funding programs, including limited-submission and diversity opportunities, are available at ORPA’s Highlighted, Limited Submission and Diversity Programs webpage. Additional diversity funding is available under a new program established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) called, "Enhancing the Diversity of the NIH-funded Workforce." Corporate and foundation funding and scholarship programs are featured on CFR’s newly developed Funding webpage.

Research Opportunities for High School Students

A redesigned process has been rolled out for faculty members planning to host one or more high school students through the Laboratory Learning Program. Information and links to forms are available on the Research Opportunities webpage. Contact Karla Ewalt or Lynne Brown with questions about this program.

Plan Ahead for Summer Fieldwork Involving Human or Animal Research

Students and researchers planning to conduct human-subject or animal field research during the summer of 2014 should plan ahead for committee review and approval of their research proposals. The submission schedules for proposals to conduct regulated research are available online using the IRB submission schedule for human-subject research or IACUC submission schedule for animal research.

Princeton University Launches Policy Website

Princeton University recently launched a new policy website, replacing the former Management Standards Guidebook. The University Policy website serves as a central repository of University policies that govern a wide range of University activities in support of its core teaching and research mission.

IRB Updates

Princeton's Institutional Review Board (IRB) has created a new form for expedited review of non-exempt human-subject research. For more information, please contact Andrea Ferguson-Dadas or visit the Human Research Protections webpage. The IRB has also added three new abbreviated CITI training courses for faculty advisors and biomedical-data or specimens-only researchers who are not directly involved with conducting human-subject studies. Learn more about CITI training and course offerings at the Human Research Education webpage.
