Advocacy Director
Gerik Kransky
Our Advocacy Director, Gerik Kransky, recently worked with local leaders to build support for restoring a large portion of the cuts to the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) budget. He worked closely with members of the
Portland Business Alliance and freight advocates from the
Columbia Corridor Association to gain their support in restoring funding for city staff and projects that will make Portland a better place to ride.
In speaking to
BikePortland.org, PBOT Director Tom Miller referred to Gerik as, "
the de-facto leader of the 'add-back' effort" and went on to say that he's never seen a coalition this broad built around budget negotiations.
Your support of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance enabled Gerik to build consensus around the city's budget.
"...this year, it seems active transportation is taking the brunt of the cuts. That's why
all of us kind of feel the pain there and would like to see some of that funding restored."
— Corky Collier, Columbia Corridor Assoc.
