Developing a Monitoring Template to support the work of IHREC

ERA has developed a draft monitoring template which we hope to apply in supporting and monitoring the work of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission over the period of its new strategic plan. We are actively seeking feedback on this document and would appreciate members taking their time to read through it and make comments and the ERA Steering Group will finalise the document on foot of this feedback.

ERA recognises the key role of the Irish Human Rights Equality Commission (IHREC) in advancing equality and human rights in Ireland and has played a proactive role by developing analysis and making submissions to shape the development of IHREC. We have welcomed IHREC’s new strategic plan. We aim to use this template as the standard to communicate civil society's hopes and expectations for IHREC and to offer support to IHREC in achieving this standard.

Welcome to COPD Support Ireland: The Equality & Rights Alliance's newest member

The Equality and Rights Alliance Steering Group is delighted to formally welcome COPD Support Ireland as our newest members.

COPD Support Ireland (COPDSI), a national membership based organisation working with people living with a chronic lung disease. COPD is a chronic disease of the lungs that effects up to 400,000 people in Ireland.  Evidence shows that people from lower socio economic groups are more likely to develop COPD and die sooner from COPD due to the higher rates of smoking, poorer living conditions and environmental and occupational impacts.

For more information on their work, see their website

Niall Crowley articles on Equality & Human Rights Infrastructure

Some of you may have seen, but in case you missed them, Niall Crowley had two articles in the Village Magazine on the IHREC strategic plan and the WRC debacle in relation to rent allowances and also an article in the Irish Times in relation to both issues.
