The Heavens Declare the Glory of God
June 6, 2015

"The heavens declare the glory of God
the skies proclaim the works of his hands. . .
The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple."
Psalm 19.1, 7

Theologians frequently speak of two "books" through which God reveals himself to humanity: the book of nature and the book of God's written word - scripture. As we continue our exploration of the halleljuah songbook of the Psalms this week, we will encounter a song of David that sings beautifully of both of those books of God's revelation. I invite you to read Psalm 19 prior to our time together tomorrow morning.
We will also celebrate the feast of the Lord's Supper tomorrow. I encourage you to prepare in heart and mind to come to the table set by our Lord, joyfully communing your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Congregational Meeting
and Sunday School Brunch:
Brunch     Tomorrow we will have our summer congregational meeting and our annual Sunday School brunch directly after the service of worship. Marcus and Ron will provide the waffles and omelets and some of the other goodies for the brunch. If you feel led to bring something else appropriate to a brunch, please do so.
The main event at the congregational meeting will be the approval and election of new office-bearers for the coming year.
If you didn't get a chance to sign up for the brunch please email me at in order to let me know how many will be attending in your party.

Spring Clean-Up Day:
Our annual spring clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, June 13. Please mark your calendars and prepare to come and help in the clean-up efforts!

Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit:
This August 6 and 7, a few members of council will be attending the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit. We have purchased two extra tickets this year, and would like to encourage members of the congregation to consider joining us. The Leadership Summit is designed to not only encourage and equip people to lead within the church, but also in the home, the workplace, and in the community. For more information, you can see the Global Leadership Summit website here. We attend a live broadcast of the Summit in Syracuse, travelling to the site each morning and arriving back in Binghamton in the late afternoon each day. If you are interested in attending, please talk to Kurt Monroe, Ron Crawford, or Terry Woodnorth.

Small Groups:
If you are interested in joining a small group, please let Pastor Kurt know. One of our small groups is in the midst of transition and is open to new members.

Sunday Mornings:
Coffee: 9:15 a.m.
Worship Service:
10:00 a.m.

That we might better pray for one another:

We pray for continued healing and recovery for Luci Huizinga.
We pray for continued healing and patience for Holly Nelson, and for energy and patience for the Nelson family as they help Holly through this time.
We pray for healing and recovery for Ralph Hamlin following his surgery on Wednesday.
We give thanks for safe travels for Annette Vernon to Holland and pray for peace for her as she settles into her life there.
We give thanks for a safe return for Ettienne Germaine and for God's guidance of the immigration process for his brother's family.
We rejoice with Ryan and Amber Crawford following their wedding and pray for God's blessing on their marriage.
We pray for the work of the Faith & Finances advisory team as they attempt to make contacts with partners and try to connect with those who would most benefit from the course.
We pray for God's world: for the people of Nepal following the earthquakes there, and especially for the churches there who are providing relief and aid; for those who are persecuted for their faith around the world, and for those who are being called to witness to Jesus Christ with their blood; for restoration, renewal, and justice for the people of Haiti; for God's miraculous intervention in the Middle East, that the hearts and minds of the people living there, and that whole cultures, would begin to bend toward peace, and that God's church would continue to proclaim and embody the good news of God's reign  boldly there.
We pray for friends and family: for Tilly's co-worker Michelle, whose father passed away; for Judy Zwierzynski's mother-in-law and those giving care to her; for Elizabeth Bennett's friend Terry, whose brain cancer has returned; for Beth Cunningham's great-niece MacKenzie; for  Doug and Pat Aukemas' nephew, Charlie, who is battling cancer; for healing and encouragement for Adam Derzanovich; for the Conrads' friend Dick who is battling cancer; and for strength and energy for Alistair Krempel.
