"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'"
~ Isaiah 52.7

This Sunday Sherm McElwain will be preaching "The Romance of Shoes" on Isaiah 52.1-9. I encourage you to read that passage prior to the service of worship on Sunday.
I will be on vacation from Friday, September 13 to Thursday, September 19, and then George DeJager, Joel Huizinga and I will be representing Valley Church at the fall meeting of Classis Atlantic Northeast on September 20 and 21. If you need pastoral care during this time, please contact your elder or deacon.

festival tentsFall Festival:

Valley's 9th annual Fall Festival is just over one week away - on September 22. Please continue to invite friends, neighbors, and family. Also, we encourage you to consider volunteering to help set up, supervise games or bounce houses, tear down, or bring cookies or other goodies. The sign-up sheets to volunteer are on a table by the door in the foyer.
There are also flyers in the secretary's office. Feel free to canvas your neighborhood, putting them in newspaper tubes or door handles.
Let's all work together to make this year's Fall Festival a joyous celebration for the kids and families of our community!

That we might better pray for one another:

We pray for peace and healing for Claire Krempel who will be having heart surgery on Friday to clear several blockages that were discovered this week.
We ask for God's healing for Charlie Huizinga and Judy Zweirzinski who are both recovering from knee replacement surgery.
We rejoice with Wilner and Marila as they have been granted green cards and permission to re-enter the United States. We pray for travel logistics and safety.
We give thanks that Daryl Whitacre's MRI results gave her and her doctor confidence to move forward according to plan. We pray for her surgery next week, and that God would keep his hand of healing upon her.
We ask for continued healing for Dorris and Jim Pitcher.
We pray for healing for Edele Thompson.
We pray for Lucky and Harriet Dimidio.
We rejoice with the Canary family in the baptism of Gabriel Warren!
We pray for Jim Stocum as he undergoes his surgery.
We pray for the friends and family of members: Pat and her daughter Karen, Debbie (friend of Holly Nelson's family), the family and friends of Sue as they mourn her death, Claire and Jerry's granddaughter who is due to give birth to their first great-grandchild, and Jim Stocum's mother, Esther.
