Gift of God's Word

"Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path."
Psalm 119.105

The book of psalms is like a hymnbook of praise directed toward the world's one true God and King. Within the collection of praise songs, there is a great variety of types, or genres, of psalms. This week, we turn our attention to a portion of Psalm 119, a "wisdom" psalm that invites us to reflect on true wisdom and the source of that wisdom, which is God's word. I encourage you to read Psalm 119.105-112 (and as much of Psalm 119 as you are able to read) prior to our service tomorrow.

Summer Food Service Program:

The deacons would like to encourage you to get the word out about the Summer Food Service Program. Here's some more information:

In the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's six-county service area, over 50% of children are eligible for free and reduced-priced meals at school. With the school year ending, many children in the Southern Tier who these meals will soon be without access to in-school meal service for the summer. This is where the Summer Food Service Program steps in the help fill this gap. Any child aged 18 and under is welcome at an open meal site and can eat a free, healthy meal or snack. There is no registration or paperwork required. Please help spread the word about this program.

For more information, please see here.

Small Groups:
If you are interested in joining a small group, please let Pastor Kurt know. One of our small groups is in the midst of transition and is open to new members.

That we might better pray for one another:
We give thanks that the DeYoungs' niece Kaelyn has been discharged from the hospital and pray for continued recovery at home with her family.
With thanksgiving for the healing she has experienced, we pray for continued recovery for Luci Huizinga.
We rejoice with Don and Beth in the healthy birth of their granddaughter Lillie.
We give thanks for Claire Krempel's successful surgery and pray for continued healing.
We pray for continued healing and patience for Holly Nelson, and for energy and perseverance for the Nelson family as they help Holly through this time.
We that God would move in the hearts and minds of those who would grow in their faith and discipleship through Faith & Finances, that they might hear about the course and register.
We pray for God's world: for those who are persecuted for their faith around the world, and for those who are being called to witness to Jesus Christ with their blood; for restoration, renewal, and justice for the people of Haiti; for God's miraculous intervention in the Middle East, that the hearts and minds of the people living there, and that whole cultures, would begin to bend toward peace, and that God's church would continue to proclaim and embody the good news of God's reign  boldly there.
