Valley Church News (Light)

November 23, 2013

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace . . ."
~ 1 Peter 4.10

This Sunday, November 24, is Youth Sunday at Valley Church. The youth will be leading the service, singing, ushering, greeting, doing drama - the whole lot - using their gifts to serve the Valley Church congregation. The passage that will guide the service is 1 Peter 4.8-11. I encourage you to read and reflect on the passage prior to the service of worship.

I will be providing pulpit supply for our brothers and sisters in Christ as Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Richfield Springs tomorrow, so I won't see you all until next Sunday.
I also just returned from an invigorating theological conference at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan at which over 600 pastors and other church leaders gathered to discuss how the whole of scripture should be read in light of God's rescue mission of this creation and his people as the central theme. It was a wonderful conference, but it's good to be home, and I look forward to seeing you all again next Sunday.

Calling All Musicians!

During the season of Advent, we'd like to assemble a group of people who are willing to help with musical leadership during our Sunday morning worship services (and possibly Christmas Eve as well). We'll be having mid-week rehearsals to help us prepare, as well as coming early on Sunday morning.  Any and all willing vocalists and instrumentalists are more than welcome!  Please talk to Jennifer Monroe if you're interested.
