Laying Down Our Coats for the King:

In addition to laying palm branches to cover the way on which Jesus traveled on Palm Sunday, many within the crowd took off their cloaks and spread them before Jesus.
This Palm Sunday (a week from this Sunday), we will have an opportunity to lay down our coats in service of the King. The Valley Church children and youth will be collecting coats for distribution to those who don't have appropriate winter clothing next winter. If you have coats or jackets in good condition that no longer fit or that you no longer wear, please consider bringing them either this Sunday or early on Palm Sunday and giving them to the kids. They will be laying the coats out for the Palm Sunday procession, and then they will be distributed through Project Concern and the local schools next fall.

World Renew Uganda Update:

There is a new update from the folks at World Renew, Uganda that you can read here. In the update Edward Okiror, who visited us a while back, wrote an article about the transformative work God is doing through World Renew and its partner churches in Uganda in regards to marriage faithfulness and high HIV rates in two fishing villages. I encourage you to read the update and keep Edward and Milly and the people of Uganda in your prayers.

Caravaggio - Taking of ChristSpecial Services for Holy Week:

Holy Week begins Palm Sunday, April 29. During Holy Week Valley Church will gather for worship on Maundy Thursday to remember and meditate on the sacrifice of the Triune God on behalf of humanity and creation, and to celebrate the Lord's Supper together, just as Jesus shared a supper with his disciples on that day. The Maundy Thursday service will be at 7:00p.m. on Thursday, April 2.

On Easter Sunday (April 5), we will gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ from the First Church of Christ (the congregation that meets just down the street) at 8:00a.m. for a joint Easter sunrise service. We will meet at the First Church of Christ's lawn (weather permitting, inside if not) for a brief service to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Following the service we will share a potluck breakfast with them in their fellowship hall. Please bring a breakfast casserole, some fruit, bread, or other breakfast goodies to share! I encourage you to rise early and join us in this celebration and fellowship with the family of God!

Following the sunrise service and potluck breakfast, the Valley congregation will gather back at Valley's building at 10:00 for our Easter service of worship.
