Thank YOU for a Fabulous 2013!

Thank you to YOU... AWFW friends and supporters... for an amazing, actaully fabulous, 2013!  We've accomplished so much and have even more in store for 2014!  See our news archive and global grants for success details.

If you'd like to make a final 2013 contribution, you can donate here or check out our Plants-4-Hunger program, where we send food projects 100% of your gift.

While funding is obviously crucial, thank you to everyone regardless of ability to donate. Your compassion in sharing our mission to feed families and save animals provides more support than you know.

Warmest Wishes and Happy New Year ~ Dawn (founding director)

We're a CLASSY Awards Finalist!

They actually contacted us and invited us to apply!  We've passed the first two phases for the Food Security and Response category.

If we win, we go to San Diego to promote the benefits of plant-based food and farming projects, and plant-centered global food policies that feed families while saving animals.

The CLASSY Awards is the largest social impact awards ceremony in the United States, highlighting the greatest champions of social progress.

From May 2-3, 2014, top leaders from the social sector convene to connect in an environment that drives collaboration around solving social problems.

Congratulations to the Final 2013 Project Winners!

In memory of Dr. Robert Goodland... may our dear friend rest in peace.
Dr. Robert Goodland - AWFW Climate Change Specialist & Board Advisor (2009-2013)

Dr. Robert Goodland - AWFW Board AdvisorYou probably know Dr. Goodland best for his 2009 World Watch Magazine article, "Livestock and Climate Change," which he co-authored with World Bank Group environmental specialist, Jeff Anhang.

The groundbreaking report was instrumental in demonstrating how animals raised for food contribute 51% of human-caused greenhouse gases.

Dr. Robert Goodland served the World Bank Group as their Environmental Adviser for 23 years, during which time he drafted, and persuaded the Bank to adopt, most of its current social and environmental policies. He was honored in 2008 as the first recipient of the Coolidge medal for lifetime achievement in environmental conservation, presented by the prestigious International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

On a personal note, despite his ill health, Robert insisted that even if it was the last thing he did, he was going to make his annual pilgrimage this December to climb the Himalayas, which he accomplished. His wife asks that his friends "please pray for Robert's new journey in comfort."

We celebrate just a few of his many incredible contributions:
