nchs band 6

To All Band Parents

Every year we go through the agony of the permission/medical forms.
The problem of course is that they must be notarized.  To ease this situation,
I will be at practice every day this coming week from 12Noon-12:30PM, 4:00PM-4:30PM and 8:30PM-finish to notarize forms.
Please remember that I must witness the signing of the forms.  If they are
already signed, you will have to re-sign in my presence.

Remember also that they must be signed this week if your student is to go to DCI.
If your student is not going, the form is still needed for participation and must be signed prior to the first football game.
Thanks for all you do,
Harriet Stenzel

Volunteer Training

If you are planning on working with the kids in any way this season, then it is mandatory that you attend one of the training nights listed below. Both training sessions are short in duration and will be held in the chorus room.

**You can also sign up for all parent volunteer positions on these nights!

Seasoned Chaperone training will be held at North Cobb High School on July 23rd at 7:30 PM

New Chaperone training will be held at North Cobb High School on July 28th at 7:30 PM

VOLUNTEERS are ALWAYS needed and we are sure there is something for everyone.

*We have positions for frontline, chaperones, welcome committee, hospitality, fundraising and many more.
You can also contact any of the board members to let them know of your interest.*

We have magnet parents asking if any band students living in the Piedmont/SPlains/Roswell area would like to form a carpool.

We can appreciate the difficulty it causes to participate in every event and even to volunteer living such a distance away.

Please send Liana Parker (secretary) a private message if you are interested. Email is on the North Cobb website.

Parents, please help us help your children. Below is a list that will help keep your student safe and comfortable during band camp. They will be spending a great deal of time outside, so please dress for the heat. No jeans. PLEASE make sure they are well hydrated BEFORE they come and have eaten lunch PRIOR to coming to the school. We look forward to seeing everyone soon.

WATER BOTTLE - We will provide coolers to refill them throughout the day. THIS IS A BIG DEAL WITH THE TEMPERATURES WE ARE EXPERIENCING.

CLOSED TOED SHOES - no flip flops or sandals.

Comfortable, appropriate clothing. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray.

Pencil, music, instrument, reeds, valve oil, etc to keep your instrument functioning.

DINNER - They will get a dinner break. Please send them with a sack meal or make arrangements to bring them something. Students cannot leave the school campus on beak. It is important that everyone eat properly to avoid issues with heat and energy levels.

There will be flyers handed out to the students during band camp and will also be available on the North Cobb website.

  1. Medical Forms were distributed on Thursday July 16th

Each student must have a completed medical form on file to be able to travel with the North Cobb Marching Band. Your student has received a form and the completed form is due by July 23. Turn in completed forms to Harriet Stenzel or place in the envelope labeled “Completed Medical Forms” located by the payment box in the back of the bandroom. Pease note these forms must be notarized. On Tuesday July 21 at the parent meeting we will have a couple of band parents available before and after the meeting to notarize if you need help with this process.  We are looking forward to a great season!
