North Cobb High School Band 2016-2017

Dear Warrior Band Family,

Thank you for the warm welcome I have received since May! Every interaction I have had with students, parents, administration, and NCHS faculty has been inviting, kind, and supportive. Your generosity makes me thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful community and I can’t wait to get the year started!

Our competitive field show “The Chase” is well underway. We have the full show arranged and drill is being completed as we speak. Before camp begins, we will have most of the opener charted and ready to learn and as the coming weeks progress, the drill writer will send more and more material for us to learn. Camp and season staff are all set with some familiar and some new faces to make your student’s experience the best it can be.

As band camp quickly approaches, encourage your students to get outside and “enjoy” (i.e. get used to) the warm weather. Get them in the habit of hydrating often and various forms of enjoyable exercise as to ease the transition from “summertime rest mode”. While we won’t be outside during the heat of the day, it is important to stay active in preparation for camp.

Three important dates to keep in mind during camp are:

July 19th: Booster meeting at 7

July 27th: Raffle fundraiser begins and will run through the month of October.

July 30th: DCI Atlanta show. Student tickets are covered through band fees. If there are any parents interested in attending outside of chaperoning, we will provide more information about tickets for an accompanying parent bus.

Fees for the season are due in full on October 1, 2016. We encourage you to make monthly payments to make it easier on the wallet. Payments can be made this summer via PayPal through the link on the band website or mail a check to NCHS Band Booster, P.O. Box 539, Acworth, GA 30101. Once band camp starts you can use the box at the back of the band room.


All band parents are asked to attend a parent meeting on Tuesday, July 19th at 7pm.

At this meeting you will have an opportunity to meet the band directors and camp staff as well as your booster board. You can also sign up for volunteer positions at the meeting.

VOLUNTEERS are ALWAYS needed and we are sure there is something for everyone.

*We have positions in frontline, chaperones, welcome committee, hospitality, fundraising and many more.

* We are especially in need of notaries and a chair for the Video committee as well as a co-chair for Chaperones.

You can contact any of the board members to let them know of your interest.*

Band Camp Dates and Times

  • July 14th and 15th, full band, 1:00pm to 9:00pm
  • July 18th thru July 22nd, Mandatory camp, full band, 12:00pm - 9:00pm
  • July 25th thru July 29th, Mandatory camp, full band, 4:00pm - 9:00pm
  • July 30th, DCI Show @ Georgia Dome, 5:30pm - Midnight
  • August 2nd and 4th, Practice, 4:00pm - 7:00pm
  • August 8th, Practice, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
  • August 9th and 11th, Practice, 4:00pm - 7:00pm
  • August 13th Family Day, Mandatory 9:00am - 9:00pm
  • Additional Monday Practices: Aug. 15th & 22nd, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
  • September 17th, Mandatory, all day rehearsal, 12:00pm - 9:00pm

Volunteer Training

If you are planning on being a chaperone or in any way working with the kids then it is mandatory that you attend one of the training nights listed below.....

Seasoned Chaperone training will be held at North Cobb High School on Thursday, July 21st at 7:30 PM

New Chaperone training will be held at North Cobb High School on Tuesday, July 26th at 7:30 PM

Band Camp Chaperones Needed!!!

We still have several slots open for chaperones (volunteers) during band camp. If you went through the chaperone training last year with Janeen Amason, you’re qualified. Even if the year happened a little quicker than you expected and you were never able to chaperone an event.

We will team you up with someone that knows the ropes and we’ll make sure you have a smooth entry into the world of serving our students. The primary focus for chaperones during camp is to make sure everyone stays hydrated and help out with any minor injuries.

Pizza Night Volunteers Needed

Family Day is a fun day for everyone! Please come out and support our kids! There will be a sneak peak at what the kids have been learning all summer.

Uniform Fitting Volunteers Needed


It's that time of year again! Time to get the NCHS Warrior Band looking sharp. We will be fitting the kids for uniforms during the first full week of band camp (July 18-22). There is no sewing and no prior experience required for helping out. This is a great way to get to meet lots of the kids at once so it’s perfect for brand new band parents as well as familiar faces.

If you would like to volunteer on the day your child will be fitted, take a look at the schedule below. Please consider signing up for as many spots as your schedule will allow. We have a very limited amount of time to get 200+ students fitted for their uniforms so that we can get them cleaned and prepped for the first game. 

Seniors will be fitted on Monday, July 18th
Juniors will be fitted on Tuesday, July 19th
Sophomores will be fitted on Wednesday, July 20th
Freshman A-L will be fitted on Thursday, July 21st
Freshman M-Z will be fitted on Friday, July 22nd

All time slots will be from 10:45 am - 1:00 pm.
