Hearts & Hooves Canada, Level I Workshop on Equine Guided Therapy Programs, with miniature horses has been developed to guide others in establishing their own Mini Equine Therapy Programs
Our April 2008 Level I Workshop is offered in two parts; Part 1 April 3-4-5 Part 2 April 17 (pm) 18
This tuition-based workshop will explore the uniqueness of working with mini horses indoors, while facilitating Equine Guided Therapy Programs. The Level I workshop will expand your knowledge of the variety of people of all ages, those in Seniors Homes, Special Needs Schools, and Hospitals within your community who could benefit from Equine Guided Therapy programs. We will emphasis the need for proper care, while advocating for and respecting miniature horses. We will look at how to work with your mini horses best interest in mind, clients requesting equine therapy, and how best to operate your individual programs, and much, much more!

Five Days of Extensive Hands-On Training H&H Level I Workshop on Equine Guided Therapy Programs entails five intensive days of hands-on training; working with the Hearts & Hooves' Canadian Founder and its' Volunteers, Vets, Volunteer Coordinators, our mini horses and the Program Directors in facilities the minis visit and individuals who have had visits from the minis. Level I participants will have countless opportunities to learn, question, and experience hands on - while actively engaging in some of the following activities;
.... visiting a local Veterinary Hospital and discussing unique concerns and traits of proper mini horse care and maintenance
... discussing, analyzing, and interpreting how to find and recognize mini horses that want to be therapy animals
.. recognizing and helping mini horses to overcome their fears, while developing trust - particularly in minis who have suffered from abuse and neglect
.... understanding the team approach as part of training mini horses to positively interact with people on visits in a variety of settings in and around a busy community
.. examing the legalities, liabilities, special insurances, and safety measures to protect the people you visit, your horses, and those who help with visits
... engaging Level I participants to work as a team and individually to resource, develop, and create their programs initiatives
.... devising realistic target goals, further breaking down the steps to attaining success in developing each participants Mini Equine Therapy Programs
.. resourcing places with in your community to visit, and discussing how to set up visits with Program Coordinators, Teachers, and Health Care Providers in a wide variety of facilities ... of planning, preparing and getting ready for a visit; including bathing horses, packing gear, equipment, and information, travel necessities, and many helpful hints and things not to do
.... of travelling with the minis and learning how to successfully set up the various components of visits
.. participating in several community visits planned with our H&H horses and volunteers
.... an opportunity for questions and answers on developing and maintaining a Volunteer Program with H&H Volunteer Program Coordinator
.. discussing how H&H established, operates, and maintains our mini horse rescue organization, and adoption program
... meeting with a Website developer and technical support person fluent with the vision of Equine Guided Therapy
In conclusion of the Level I workshop participants will have; expanded their knowledge and skill base, be prepared, ready, and able to promote and network within their community, have thoroughly planned goals and initiatives to start or further develop Equine Guided Therapy Programs with Miniature horses.
In addition H&H offers a Level II workshop to build upon the business and marketing side of operating Equine Guided Therapy Programs. Scheduled for the summer of 2008.
