Statoil joins Broadscale Network

We’re delighted to announce that Statoil, an international energy company with operations in 36 countries has joined the Broadscale Network this year. Broadscale is working closely with Statoil’s Energy Ventures team to identify investment and partnership opportunities in renewables and other new energy technologies.
 
In December, Statoil won a bid to build a nearly 800MW offshore wind farm off the coast of Long Island, New York.

We hosted our 2017 Kickoff Event last month in New York to discuss the changing policy landscape and what it will mean for energy and innovation. In addition to our Network Members and energy thought leaders including David Crane, Jeff Holzschuh, Richard Kauffman, Alex Laskey, Jim Rogers, and Heather Zichal we were joined by Tom Friedman, the award-winning New York Times columnist and author for a special dialogue about his new book, Thank You for Being Late

Capital, Growth, and Exits

We've now had more than 70 innovative growth companies present to Broadscale's corporate Network. These innovators we selected have gone on to raise more than $1 billion, establish key strategic partnerships, and create value for their customers, shareholders, and society.  In 2016, a number of them were acquired, including BitStew by GE; Sensity by Verizon; and 1Energy Systems by South Korea’s Doosan.

Investing with Warner Music Group in Marketing Innovation

  We’ve expanded our focus beyond energy to work on investments and partnerships in transportation, real estate, and enterprise software.
 
In December, we invested in AuDigent, a marketing data tech company that has developed a proprietary audience banking system. It allows brands to significantly improve the ROI of the growing number of advertising campaigns that use influencers including musicians, actors, athletes, and other celebrities. Warner Music Group also invested in the round and has executed a major strategic partnership with the company, as has Jay Z’s Roc Nation.

 
 
 

Speaking at ClimateWeek 2016 and VERGE 16
 

I was honored to lead two discussions at Climate Week NYC in September along with several international business and government leaders, including Ernie Moniz, then US Secretary of Energy. Check out the full opening ceremony discussion, Innovating for a Clean Economy, here.
 
I also spoke at VERGE 16 in September in Silicon Valley with Nancy Pfund, Founder of DBL Partners, on the topic of Igniting Innovation to Combat Climate Change.
