The New York Times on Thursday, Dec. 18, published a story about the 2012 revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V) - what the newspaper called "the book of human troubles." This is the publication in which we’re seeking diagnostic recognition for Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Click here to read what the New York Times reported. While it doesn’t mention the SPD Foundation specifically, the story devotes a whole paragraph to SPD toward the end (awareness IS growing!) and provides a quick snapshot of what the DSM application process involves. To read about the SPD Foundation’s advocacy for diagnostic recognition of SPD in the DSM, click here. To read Dr. Lucy Jane Miller's answers to recent questions about the importance of the DSM, read "Why put SPD in the DSM" in the Fall 2008 issue of Sensations on our website.
