Guided Trips
Rainbow Sept 1

Brown Sep
It's back to school time here in Western North Carolina, and that means a reprieve from not only the 11 O'clock "Tuber Hatch" but the heat as well. Temperatures, for air and stream, are on the decline and the trout and bug life couldn't be happier. Cooler, cloudier days have produced some nice Baetis hatches along with smaller caddis and tiny black flies. Terrestrials should also remain good producers throught the end of the month.
Starting in October, 36 Delayed Harvest trout waters in 20 of our western North Carolina counties that fall under the Catch and Release Regulations will receive a good stocking of Brooks, Browns, and Rainbows. Many of these are a great opportunity for the novice and seasoned angler alike, giving a good change of pace from the more technical summer fly fishing. Most of these rivers can be waded, but a couple are best seen from a drift boat. Float Trips this time of year can be fantastic, not only the fishing, but for the views as well. Floating for trout or small mouth bass here in WNC along with the Tennessee tail waters is a great way to cover a good stretch of water as well as take in the colors that are soon to come.
Our Mountain State Fair and local Apple Festival are just around the corner; and if you're looking to visit, why don't you give one of the shops a call and let one of our guides round out a great mountain experience with a wade or float trip.
Falconry Header
Fun and exciting news for Curtis Wright Falconry! This month our very own Jeff Curtis will be interning at "Ireland's School Of Falconry" at the Historic Ashford Castle in Cong, Ireland.
Jeff will resume falconry experiences in October; but if you have interest in a flight before he returns, Peter Kipp will continue to take bookings for the Highlands area.

This is an up close and personal “hands on” experience with a bird of prey. Guests will be accompanied by Peter Kipp or Jeff Curtis, both licensed falconers with over 40 years of combined experience, and learn about the ancient sport of falconry. Those who wish to, will have the opportunity to handle the raptor and experience the exhilaration of having these magnificent birds perch on their gloved fist. It will be a truly unforgettable experience as the hawk flies from tree to tree culminating with them flying to your fist. There is nothing like handling and flying a bird of prey and seeing these majestic creatures up close.
