Westhill was designated a Red, White & Blue School for its teaching of the 2016 presidential election.

Dr. Lisa Forbes, WHS Social Studies Department Chair, accepted the award on behalf of the school at a ceremony on June 1, 2017. Westhill is one of only nine recognized Red, White & Blue schools. The Red, White & Blue Schools program is a partnership between the State Department of Education and the Office of the Secretary of the State. According to the State Department, the program rewards outstanding schools that develop programs that foster strong civic engagement among students. This year was the program’s first, and it centered on the theme of “The Electoral Process.”
