Volunteers Needed For Photo Days

can you help

We need volunteers in the Westhill Auditorium to help distribute name cards and make sure everything runs smoothly as the classes come in.  The shifts are either 7:15am - 10:45am  or  10:30am - 1:45pm.

It is that time of year again when we will be holding our annual Photo Days at Westhill High School, wherein students have the photo taken that will appear IN the Yearbook and ON their Student ID cards (provided free of charge by the school).
Photo Days are NEXT WEEK as follows:
Tuesday, September 1: 9th Grade
Wednesday, September 2: 10th Grade
Thursday, September 3: 11th Grade
Friday, September 4: 12th Grade*** ID's ONLY!
Students will go down to their scheduled Photo Day WITH their English classes. In the event that their class is "dropped" on the day their grade is supposed to go, the teacher will elect to go on a different day. ***Students must ask their ENGLISH TEACHER what day their class will go to Photo Day, if they wish to dress and "groom" accordingly.***
12TH GRADERS ONLY: It is a silly tradition that our 12th graders typically dress-up, often with wigs / crowns / other "accoutrement" for their Senior ID photo. They will NOT be taking their Yearbook photo on 9/4. Instead, if they DIDN'T come in to take their Formal Yearbook Portrait over the summer, they may make it up on Photo Days "just for them" in October and November. More information to follow in another email.
WANT TO ORDER PICTURES? For Grades 9, 10 and 11 ONLY:
Prestige Portraits - a division of Lifetouch Studios - has mailed to each Westhill family a white envelope with the words, "Important School Picture Day Information Enclosed" in blue on the outside of the envelope. This envelope has enclosed your ordering materials for those of you who wish to purchase. If you did not receive this envelope or misplaced it, we have extra forms on the counter in the Main Office, AND in Room 432, AND attached to this email! If you have any questions regarding your order, please call Prestige Portraits at 800-426-9533 ext 117.

Stamford Public Schools

Make a Difference at Your School!

School Governance Councils are an opportunity for Connecticut schools to become centers of excellence that prepare all students for success. They represent the many interests of the families and staff that make up your school’s community. This is important because research has shown that:

  • Partnerships among families, school and community members can make a powerful contribution to greater student success.
  • No matter what their income or background, students with involved families tend to have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and higher rates of homework completion.

What Does The School Governance Council Do?

The School Governance Council serves as an important role to the school administrator by:

  1. Bringing together parents, school staff, students and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement and
  2. Assisting the school administration in decisions impacting students’ education in areas such as:
    • Analyze data and school needs;
    • Review the school’s resources; and
    • Advise the principal in making programmatic and operational changes.
