For the first time since we
began our work in October of 2012, school food is on the school board agenda. Prior
to that meeting, we need you to do
one of three things for us (or more):
1. Email the members of the Board of Education

to ask them to support the
changes to school food requested by Real Food for Kids - Montgomery in our
petition (http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/we-want-real-healthy-food-in-mcps.html).
Your email would be
strengthened if you choose one or two of the points from the petition that
affect you and your family and discuss them. You could also mention why you
don’t let your child eat school lunch or don’t let them eat it often, if that
is the case, and how these changes would make it more likely you would
participate in school lunch.
2. Call one
at-large Board of Education Member and the Board of Education
member from your district, ask them to
support the changes requested in RFKM’s petition and tell them about your
concerns with the school food (best to keep it to things within the realm of
the petition).

3. Come to
the June 3 Board of Education Meeting where they will be discussing school
food. Meet outside the meeting
room at the Carver Educational Services Center at 850 Hungerford Dr.,
Rockville, MD 20850 at 9:00 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. meeting. There is a big
parking lot – enter in the glass doors on the right side of the building and
the meeting room is just on your right. Our strong presence here will
be very important to them taking this movement seriously, so please make it a
priority to come.

We realize this is a lot to ask of you during this busy time of year, but please do as much as you can. This effort is the culmination of 18 months of hard work, and will position us for more positive change in the coming school year.
