Almost summer, my dear list, March and April have been so busy as for me to have missed two editions and I'm just now getting to May with two performances in Manhattan and a wonderful new project in Philly.
Oh, and one more thing... a little youtube fun for you.

Rewind:
and join us for a very very sweet evening.
Todd Reynolds and Michael Lowenstern cut their teeth together twenty years ago as they waded neck-deep into the mixed-drink world of Contemporary and Mashed-up popular music. Since then, in parallel worlds which intersect, they work together, doing some weird water-ballet moves which always have an electric impulse at the core.
This evening represents a celebration of that long-term collaboration with a Stone premiere of MashUp, Lowenstern's recent Meet-The-Composer-Created work for Reynolds, only heard once so far in New York last month at Symphony Space, as well as new music by Todd Reynolds with a Lowensternian focus and presence.
Slow Boys was the name of the band back then, and watch, just watch, that it doesn't creep up slowly and bite cha now... It's an infectious pairing. Also included, solo music from Mike's many CD's, and solo music from Todd's CD that he's been promising to release for 5 years. Be the first to hear the new stuff.

We're pleased to be part of Peregrine Arts premiere presentation of Gavin Bryar's "A Man in a Room, Gambling". The Todd Reynolds Situation activates in the form of a string quartet to perform inside of a greater theatrical concept of Ridge Theater in collaboration with Peregrine Arts. Be sure to click on link below as this piece has a story sure to please any devotee of the illusional arts.
The composer himself joins us on stage to realize this work for the first time in a theatrical context, which will grow into a larger piece for 2010/11. Bill Morrison, Laurie Olinder and Todd will also be part of Peregrine's Hidden City festival next year, which takes place all over Philadelphia. (once again, click the link below, it's a huge project, and already written about well and thorougly.)
In this performance, the TRS features Courtney Orlando (Alarm Will Sound), Caleb Burhans (Alarm Will Sound) and Ha-Yang Kim (Flux Quartet)
Still Life With Microphone - version X.2 at its original home, The Flea Theater, May 21st
with Satoshi Takeishi, percussion, Michael Lowenstern, Bass Clarinet, and live video with Luke DuBois at The Flea Theatre, NYC (directions)
Still Life with Microphone began its life with a cast of six. Two Bass Clarinets, Two Actors, Percussion, Violin and electronics. Electronics of the day, that is, which were HUGE and burdensome to carry...
Today, versions and versions later, having been installed at Gale Gates, The Whitney Museum at Altria, and still poised at the intersection of music, visual art and technology, Still Life with Mic returns to its original venue of The Flea Theater in Manhattan condensed into a laptop and a video projector or two, featuring artists Luke DuBois, Satoshi Takeishi, and original cast member Michael Lowenstern. Version X, now two years old, has at its core the integration of sonic and visual art.
Here's the YouTube Stuff, Tom Kolor from Talujon plays the Bathroom Concerto.
At Symphony Space, a concert hall on the upper west side of Manhattan, beautiful steel signs are mounted outside the bathrooms with male, female, and handicapped accessible cut-out symbols. To Talujon, and to me, everything looks like a percussion instrument. 'tis true.
