Dear Friends. This is a very quick and short event notification for those who live near New York or who might be passing through. A more exhaustive, fun and informative newsletter will follow shortly, after the record is done. Yes, the record. A CD is finally on the way. Add to that all the Meredith Monk activity and teaching and yet another recording project in March with guitarist Erdem Helvacoglu, and I'll have a lot to tell you.

I should mention in the meantime, however, that you can find and follow in these select and friendly places:

I'm digifiddler on twitter
I'm toddreynoldsmusic on myspace
You can find me here on facebook
And finally, you can listen to some music on reverbnation
The Todd Blog is a good repository as well!

And now for the real news...

Gosling, Reynolds and Ziporyn at (le) Poisson Rouge playing Stravinsky, Reynolds and Ziporyn, March 15th, Sunday

This is one of the most exciting events for me in recent memory. Evan Ziporyn and Steve Gosling are among my very favorite colleagues, both of which are longtime musical partners. One is the ultimate in composer/performer genius, the other is without a doubt one of the foremost pianists of our time, but never have the three of us joined together as a team to tackle any music at all, let alone the modernist master himself.

Then there's this matter of the boy with the golden fiddle. It's an old story, the seed of Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", Charlie Daniels' "Devil Went Down to Georgia", and of course, L'Histoire Du Soldat itself. Of course, I can't tell you the number of times I've been asked to break out "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" on subways, airplanes and the like. It's part of always having a fiddle on your back, and never ceases to leave me smiling.

Ronen Givony's Wordless Music series has over the past few years spawned countless brilliant programming combinations, and (le) Poisson Rouge is one of my very favorite places to play in New York these days. In true Wordless Music style, we'll be opening for an Indie headliner, Charles Spearin from Broken Social Scene with his own event called "The Happiness Project" and sharing the bill with the VERGE ensemble playing Stockhausen.

It's not only Stravinsky, though. You'll hear some new music from the Reynolds/Ziporyn electro-ironical duo which might just make you dance a little.

Tickets for the whole evening are just $16 in advance/$18 at the door and we should be going on around 8pm. Stick around for Charles Spearin, or come early for the Verge Ensemble playing Stockhausen.
