Dear Friends, Fans & Family...
The Groundhog saw his shadow here in Colorado yesterday, in spite of the snowstorm that dropped 18” of powder here in our back yard, more on the way today. Whoever made up that thing about 6 more weeks of winter did not live in a ski area. We hope you’re warm and cozy wherever you are.
Three Big News Items:
1. Positive Music Awards in Orlando, Florida, January 17-20
JD won 1st place in two out of six songwriting categories! Please listen to his beautiful ballad, “Love is Unbroken,” co-written with Robert Anderson, which took top honors in the healing category. First place in the personal transformation category went to “Taking Back My Day,” which JD co-wrote with Jan, Richard Mekdeci, and Paula Coppel.
The best part of the Pozzy music awards for us is getting to hang out with our wonderful fellow musicians, but the festivities also include an intensive songwriting school and 4 days of workshops and classes taught by some of the finest artists in the world of positive music. There are multiple song circles, and a crazy pajama jam night where one floor of the hotel is given over to intimate performances happily crammed into15 rooms of simultaneous music-making.
Jan got so excited by all the creative insanity that, on the way to the parking lot to retrieve some written lyrics from the rental car, she accidentally flipped her iPhone into the toilet (it’s a long story, but nothing icky) and had to race down to the hotel kitchen to search out a bowl of uncooked rice which a surprising number of people assured her would gradually suck the moisture out of her little personal computer/phone. And it did! All this proves that in spite of an embarrassing lapse of mindful awareness on her part, everything seems to work out in the end. This IS a friendly universe, as Dr. Einstein hinted.
2. New Website
We are in the midst of re-designing our website. Hopefully it will be up and running well before the end of February, making it easier to purchase our CDs, songbook, and sheet music as downloads as well as in their physical format. We will have a continuing place for testimonials, rave reviews, and stories from all of you. We love your personal feedback, and it helps new visitors to our website get a sense of who we are and what we do. So if you feel inclined to send us any pithy quotes or stories, please do.
3. European Tour
We are planning a trip to France, Italy, and England this spring. This will be, for the most part, a long-overdue vacation for us, but of course we would love to so some singing and playing while we’re there. If any of you have personal friends or know of people or organizations that might be interested in hosting us for a house concert or private salon, please let us know. We know that magic can happen by word of mouth and 6 degrees of separation. THANKS in advance.
Love from Jan & JD
